Rod picks up music icon award
Rocker Rod Stewart was honoured as a music icon today at the 02 Silver Clef Awards.
The 62-year-old chart veteran attended the event fresh from his honeymoon.
He and long-term girlfriend Penny Lancaster, 36, wed on the Italian Riviera earlier this month.
The Icon Award was among several honours presented at the annual event held in aid of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity.
The top Silver Clef Award was presented to “Modfather” Paul Weller, in recognition of a music career which saw him front The Jam and The Style Council before launching himself as a solo artist.
Bryan Ferry won the Ambassador of Rock Award.
Snow Patrol were named Best British Group, while Paolo Nutini won the Best New Music Award.
Other honours went to John Legend (International Award), Andrea Bocelli (Classical Award) and The Feeling (Record of the Year for Love It When You Call).
