Stars to appear at London peace gig
Annie Lennox, Corinne Bailey Rae and James Morrison are to headline a London concert calling for global peace.
The 'Peace One Day' gig will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 21.
David Beckham and Jude Law will record special video messages for the event.
In 2001, September 21 was designated "Peace Day" and is recognised by the United Nations.
"I am immensely proud to be a part of this historic project," said Law. "This process is about creating an annual moment of global unity. It can only work if we all become involved and it's essential that we do."
Former Eurythmics star Lennox, who will make her first public appearance of the year at the event, said: "Something that is of common interest to every man, woman or child on the planet must surely be the notion of peace. Without peace we cannot survive.
"Valentine's Day is February 14, Christmas Day is December 25. Peace Day has been established by the United Nations on September 21 and the whole world is invited to participate.
"This special musical event will be taking place at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate and commemorate the spirit of the occasion. I'm thrilled and delighted to be part of it, and to contribute to making Peace One Day a reality."
The gig line-up will also feature Beth Orton and Marc Almond, amongst others.
Supporters of the project include Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Pop Idol mogul Simon Fuller and Virgin Atlantic boss Richard Branson.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday at seetickets.com, Ticketmaster and the Royal Albert Hall.
