The wedding season reaches a happy-ever-after crescendo this weekend as not one but five celebrity couples tie the knot.
In an unfortunate conflict of scheduling, well connected guests will have to race to get to the weddings of four Premiership footballers and a rock star.
Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Michael Carrick are all due to marry their long-term girlfriends over the weekend in lavish ceremonies that are expected to attract many of the stars of the beautiful game.
And rocker Rod Stewart will also be tying the knot with fiancee Penny Lancaster in a secret ceremony tomorrow.
Manchester United star Gary Neville’s marriage to Emma Hadfield tomorrow is the bookie’s favourite to attract the biggest celebrity turn-out, with Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell and Ryan Giggs all expected to attend.
David Beckham is a confirmed no-show, however, as he will be fulfilling his duties to his club Real Madrid.
Both Steven Gerrard’s wedding to Alex Curran and Michael Carrick’s to Lisa Roughead have been organised for the same Saturday, putting them in direct competition with Neville.
Steven Gerrard’s wedding in Berkshire is expected to attract a clutch of footballing stars including Ashley Cole, Danny Murphy and Robbie Fowler.
There are even suggestions that Wayne Rooney and fiancee Coleen McLoughlin will try and pop in on their way to Gary Neville’s Manchester nuptials.
With such stiff competition, the lesser-known Michael Carrick risks celebrity-guest relegation with Jermain Defoe believed to be the only famous footballer in attendance.
John Terry will not have to worry about the competition today when he marries Toni Poole at the magnificent Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough.
Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are expected to attend the lavish ceremony, which is perfectly timed not to conflict with the weekend’s other nuptials.
The 26-year-old Chelsea defender’s wedding promises to be a lavish affair and is rumoured to be costing nearly £1 million.
The couple have reportedly hired the services of Old Etonian party organiser Peregrine Armstrong-Jones to mastermind the festivities.
Armstrong-Jones has overseen the weddings of David Beckham and Elizabeth Hurley.
Around 200 guests will witness a civil marriage ceremony at 4pm in the Great Hall at Blenheim before dinner and dancing until late, according to reports.
The other footballers are also believed to be spending similarly extravagant sums to get hitched.
Gary Neville and Emma Hadfield have taken the traditional marquee-in-the-garden reception to new levels of luxury and are thought to have spent £1 million on a huge tent, complete with a chequered dance floor and starlight effect roof, in the grounds of their home.
Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard is believed to be more modest by comparison, spending a rumoured £750,000 on his reception at the exclusive Cliveden House Hotel in Berkshire.
And Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick’s reception at Stapleford Hall in Leicestershire is thought to be setting him back £250,000.
The biggest spender of them all, however, could well be rock star Rod Stewart.
The singer has kept the location of his wedding ceremony a closely guarded secret, although it is thought to be taking place in the Italian Riviera resort of Portofino, famous for being the spot where Richard Burton proposed to Elizabeth Taylor in the 1960s.
