Country Living not exactly a novel idea

The move-to-the-country storyline has been done often enough in the past – Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House and The Money Pit spring to mind – but while it may have worked adequately back then it doesn’t quite come off here.

Cube, needing more space for his family and a new business venture, takes off from crowded downtown to a dream house … only, you guessed it, it turns into a nightmare.

Thus, the predictable tale of duff builders, duff local officials and duff everything else. The film seems squarely aimed at the kiddies – adults know all about the perils of moving house anyway – but it doesn’t offer enough laughs to keep its audience interested.
