Censor's Office certified over 10,000 films in 2006

The Irish Film Censor's Office certified more than 10,000 new films and DVDs last year.

According to its annual report which was released this afternoon, a significant number of these were art-house and specialist films.

The report also raises questions about the future role of the IFCO in the light of video downloads, while the body also announced a study of the current classification standards to see if they are still suitable.
