Shakira breaks Mexico City record

Latina singer Shakira has broken the record for the largest audience at a public concert in Mexico City, after more than 200,000 fans flocked to watch her.

The Beautiful Liar star, who recently announced she is to wed her fiance Antonio De La Rua in September, achieved her world record after performing to the huge audience in Zocalo Square on Sunday.

She told the crowd: "This has been a month of absolute joy. I have fed off you, and I leave with my heart full."

The previous record was held by local band Cafi Tacuba, who drew an audience of 170,000 fans in 2005.
