Captivating documentary looks at life in the French Alps
A world apart from Dreamgirls is Into Great Silence (Soda Pictures, 24.99), a captivating documentary by Philip Groning on life inside Grande Chartreuse in the French Alps, home of the Carthusian order whose monks have sworn a vow of silence.
Nusually, there is no music or narration, except for occasional natural sounds, such as crackling fires, or, believe it or not, snow falling.
The two discs come with over three hours of extras, including extra scenes and a making of featurette.
