KT Tunstall to spread Green message

Singer KT Tunstall is to invite children to her concert soundchecks to teach them about being green, it was reported today.

The Brit Award-winner, who is touring the US this year, will issue an open invitation to primary schools in the area where she is playing her gigs.

According to the Sunday Times, she will then give a talk about the film 'An Inconvenient Truth', the award-winning eco-documentary made by former US vice-president Al Gore.

Young fans will also be given a chance to choose what songs she plays as part of her warm-up routine.

St Andrews-born Tunstall, 31, told the newspaper: "I love playing for kids and, as they are the ones who are going to have to deal with the consequences of our behaviour, the least we can do is tell them what we did wrong and offer them some real alternatives."

She is a committed green campaigner and recently became involved in the Global Cool campaign which aims to encourage people to drastically reduce their personal CO2 emissions.

The singer-songwriter has also made her home environmentally friendly by having solar-panel water heating and reclaimed wood installed.

Next month she will headline the green-tinged Outsider festival in front of 10,000 fans in Cairngorms National Park.
