Comic Hughes to join Corrie cast
Comic Sean Hughes is joining Coronation Street, it was disclosed today.
He will play Pat, a cheeky charmer who seduces taxi controller Eileen Grimshaw - but the cad fails to mention that he is married.
A show insider told The Mirror newspaper: "They meet in the Rovers and get on like a house on fire. It's not very long before they are enjoying steamy sessions.
"It's a great coup to have Sean play the role. It's a mixture of serious and comical.
"He and Sue have a good chemistry to make the story work really well."
Hughes, 41, makes his debut in the ITV soap next month.
The former stand-up comic was the youngest winner of the Perrier Comedy Award in 1990.
His TV credits include 'Murder Most Horrid', 'Gormenghast' and 'The Last Detective'.
