Campaigning rocker Bob Geldof has branded Al Gore's forthcoming Live Earth concert as "just an enormous pop concert" - and lacking any concrete measures to fight global warming.

The series of worldwide gigs, on 7 July, have been organised to combat climate change, but the singer - who organised Live Aid in 1985 to raise money for famine victims in Ethiopia, and follow-up concert Live 8 in 2005 - has slammed the politician-turned-environmental activist for the 'emptiness' of the event.
