Joy Division whets the appetite for more
There are moments of great brilliance in Joy Division (Momentum, €24.99), Reg Traviss’ directorial debut.
Thomas (Ed Stoppard) is a young German captured at the end of World War II who turns up in 1960s London, this time as a KGB agent.
Thomas’s complicated life is revealed through flashbacks which occasionally mar the film’s continuity.
However, there are compensations: the battle scenes in Berlin, Bernard Hill as Thomas’s London contact and the Cold War scenario with spies and intrigue.
A promising beginning for Traviss whets the appetite for more.
Extras include an audio commentary, deleted scenes, a making of featurette and a short film.
