Jonathan Rhys Meyers in rehab

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has checked into a rehabilitation facility in order to undergo an alcohol-treatment programme.

The Cork-born actor's representative Meredith O'Sullivan confirmed the news, saying: "After a non-stop succession of filming Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol-treatment programme." She also said that the 29-year-old star "felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery".

Speaking about future projects, his representative said: "Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion."
