Clinton pays tribute to Streisand

Former US President Bill Clinton heaped praise on pal Barbara Streisand at a star-studded charity event in Hollywood on Monday night, thanking the diva for taking care of his dying mum.

Clinton was the guest of honour at the Breast Cancer Coalition fundraiser, held at the home of Viacom boss Sumner Redstone - and he used the occasion to reveal all about Streisand's generosity.

The former leader, whose mother Virginia died from breast cancer, told guests: "She called my mother once a week for one solid year until she died and I'll never forget it as long as I live."

As well as Streisand, guests at the fundraiser included actresses Brooke Shields and Sharon Stone.
