'Thelma & Louise' voted best 'road movie' of all time
'Thelma & Louise' has been voted the all-time favourite "road" movie, it has been revealed today.
The iconic chick film starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davies easily beat another American classic, 'Easy Rider', in a survey conducted by Sixt Holiday Cars.
Thelma & Louise took 46% of the votes, compared with 23% for 'Easy Rider', which starred Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson.
The Steve Martin comedy 'Planes, Trains And Automobiles' was at number three with 14%, with Australian comedy 'Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert' fourth and 'The Blues Brothers' fifth.
There was no top 10 place for any of the famous road movies made by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.
Beverley Oliver, head of UK sales for Sixt, said: "Many holidaymakers are inspired by 'Thelma & Louise' and other road trip films to look for adventure on the open roads."
