Starter for 10 a must see for any romantic

Starter for 10 (Icon, €24.99) is that rare thing, a romantic comedy that actually delivers.

With a soundtrack that includes The Cure, Kate Bush and The Smiths (among others), it’s set in the ’80s, where Brian Jackson (James McAvoy) is a young quiz fanatic who dreams of appearing on University Challenge and finds himself falling in love with student Alice (Alice Eve), challenged by Rebecca (Rebecca Hall) and well, the rest you’ll have to watch.

As we all discover, knowledge shouldn’t be confused with wisdom, and this delightful film brings the message home with lots of laughs along the way.

Extras include, unsurprisingly, a quiz, as well as interviews with the cast.
