Robin Williams impressive in thriller
ROBIN WILLIAMS has in recent years sought more non-comedic roles, with some success.
In The Night Listener (Icon, €24.99), he plays a late-night radio show host who finds himself drawn into an intense phone relationship with young lad Peter (Rory Culkin) and his adopted mum (Toni Collette).
Pretty soon things start to go horribly wrong, when the real identity of the young listener is unveiled.
Williams, who is a world removed from Mrs Doubtfire here, delivers an impressive performance, aided by the fast-maturing Culkin.
A fine piece of viewing. Extras include interviews with Williams, director Patrick Stettner and producer and writer Armistead Maupin.
