A solidly entertaining drama set in Germany in l946 where journalist and US Army officer Clooney finds himself immersed in post-war black marketeering, murder and cover-ups.

Director Soderbergh keeps his film firmly under control with brilliantly toned b/w menace – almost film noir in tone – while a terrific cast does full justice to the complex plotline.
