Mariah Carey is planning to follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Madonna by adopting a child from abroad, according to rumours.

The singer was recently spotted visiting the Frank Gonzalez orphanage in Mexico with her lawyer, reports gossip site The Scoop.

Representatives for the star have refused to comment.
