Sheen to appear in court following protest

Martin Sheen is facing a court appearance after joining in a peace protest a US nuclear test site.

Police acted after around 75 people crossed onto the government site in Mercury, Nevada.

Martin Sheen, who starred as President Jed Bartlet in TV drama 'The West Wing', was given notice to appear in court by police officers.

The site, which is about 70 miles northwest of Las Vegas, is where the US government conducted above- and below-ground nuclear detonations from 1951 to 1992.

It remains a site for non-nuclear tests on radioactive materials.
