Charity concert raises €60k for children in poverty
A three-hour charity concert raised more than €60,000 for children living in poverty, it emerged today.
The sell-out gig in aid of Barnardos at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre was headlined by The Thrills in their first major live outing in almost two years.
Special guests who turned up to support the cause included Neil Hannon from The Diving Comedy and Republic of Loose.
The Blizzards, Director, The Coronas and a very popular set by Duke Special completed the line-up.
The FM104 Help a Dublin Child gig on Saturday night also featured Keith Duffy as MC helped by radio FM104 DJs Adrian Kennedy and Jenny Green.
Several auction items, including a Fender guitar signed by all the acts, were also sold off in a raffle.
Barnardos, which was established in 1962, is a leading independent children’s charity in Ireland.
It strives to meet the needs of the estimated 148,000 children in Ireland who live in consistent poverty.
“We are delighted to be raising vital funds and awareness for the important work that Barnardos does,” said Tim Fenn, FM104 managing director.
