Boxset a must have for Almodovar fans

Sexy and witty, the Bigas Luna Boxset (Tartan, €49,99) brings together four of his best works.

In Jamón, Jamón, Penelope Cruz sizzles as Sylvia, the feisty girl who becomes pregnant by the hapless José, and starts an affair with Raul.

Javier Bardem, who also starred in Jamón, Jamón, finds it doesn’t pay to cheat with women in Golden Balls, while The Tit and the Moon is a surreal satire about sexual desire.

Bardem also appears in The Ages of Lulu, when a couple’s love descends into the darker side of sexual gratification.

Luna’s films reflect his artistic background, are visually arresting and delightfully directed.
