Amazing Grace movie is a worthy cause
Amazing Grace
Michael Apted
Ioan Gruffudd, Richard Bailey, Alex Blake, Albert Finney, Michael Gambon
We are celebrating the life of anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce who fought gallantly in 18th century England to end the selling of humans.
Gruffudd makes a sterling central character and director Apted does an excellent job filling in the historical details. Perhaps, though, it is the subject-matter itself but the film comes across as unnecessarily worthy, worthy though the cause was.
It is, though, a thoughtful and carefully constructed – good looking, too – film that deserved to be made.
