Jolie to apply for visa for Pax
Angelina Jolie arrived in Hanoi today to complete the procedures necessary to take her adopted Vietnamese son to his new home in the United States.
Jolie flew to Hanoi from Ho Chi Minh City after adopting three-year-old Pax Thien Jolie at an orphanage on the outskirts of the city last week.
She checked into Hanoi’s historic Metropole Hotel at about 5.30pm local time.
The superstar actress dodged reporters on her way to and from the airport and slipped into the hotel through a basement entrance.
Jolie is expected to meet with US Embassy officials tomorrow, when she will apply for a visa for Pax.
Jolie filed adoption papers as a single parent, because she and her superstar partner Brad Pitt are not married.
They already have three children: Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; two-year-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and another daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May.
Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and has traveled extensively to countries in the developing world.
Her 2001 film Tomb Raider was filmed in Cambodia, which borders Vietnam.
Jolie and Pitt starred together in the 2005 movie Mr and Mrs Smith.
