Norton interesting as ever in Down in the Valley
You just know there’s trouble around the corner when Edward Norton is on screen.
In Down in the Valley (Icon, €24.99) he’s a drifter, Harlan, who worms his way into the heart of teen Tobe (a fine performance by Evan Rachel Woods), much to the opposition of her dad (David Morse).
As Tobe falls in love, Harlan reveals his cowboy background and vivid imagination which slowly spirals out of control.
Norton, as usual, is never less than interesting, especially as he battles his demons within. David Jacobson, who wrote and directed, builds the tension nicely.
The only extra is a trailer, which is a pity.
3/5.
