Jade Goody arrives in New Delhi

Jade Goody, who triggered a racism row in the reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, arrived in the Indian capital New Delhi on a four-day visit, a hotel official said.

Indian actress Shilpa Shetty, who won the contest after being locked in a house with other participants for about three weeks, faced the ire of Ms Goody who shouted at her, calling her cooking untrustworthy, mocking her accent and calling her “Shilpa Poppadum”.

“Goody is staying in our hotel. But I don’t know her travel plans,” Akhil Mathur, media manager of the Le Meridien Hotel, told The Associated Press.

Ms Goody became famous after appearing on the non-celebrity version of Big Brother and has earned an estimated £8m (€12m) fortune through television and magazine appearances, an autobiography and an exercise video.
