Director: Joel Schumacher

Cast: Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen, Logan Lerman, Danny Huston

Carrey in, happily, a film that does not require his annoying litany of facial ticks … and he’s all the better for it in this superior psychological horror-thriller from a director with a solid genre track record.

Carrey plays Walter Sparrow who is given a thriller novel whose main character leads a life frighteningly not unlike his own. And it leads into several chillingly disturbing avenues.

Carrey, backed by the wonderful Madsen, plays the main character and the novel’s main character and under the careful and expert Schumacher he emerges with a great deal of credit.

It’s a scary, disturbing and at times funny tale … if you live at No 23, go change it now!
