Gallagher blasts 'irrelevant' Sting and Geldof

Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher has slammed veteran singers Sting and Bob Geldof for not being in touch with today's music industry.

The Wonderwall hitmaker, whose group took home the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution To Music on Wednesday's music ceremony in London, insists the accolade's previous winners were not in the same league as them, because they are the only honourees to still bare a connection with today's youth.

He says: "We are the only ones around to have picked it up who are still relevant. The likes of Sting aren't relevant any more. I didn't want to come down here when I was dying."
