Truffaut collection a great introduction
He was a prominent director of the French New Wave cinema. For many unfamiliar with his work, but with a strong interest in films, check out François Truffaut — The Films (Cinema Club, €24.99 each).
The six latest films comprise several from the Antoine Doinel series (Stolen Kisses, Love on the Run, and Bed and Board), The Last Metro, a tale set in occupied Paris starring Catherine Deneuve, A Gorgeous Girl Like Me with Bernadette Lafont as the seductive and dangerous Camille, and The Soft Skin where Jean Desailly embarks on an affair, with a surprising twist at the end.
