Stewart hires plane to visit son

Rod Stewart has been forced to splash out on a private plane to look after his son while fiancee Penny Lancaster recovers from surgery.

The Maggie May singer is performing a string of sell-out shows in New York, and enlists the services of a lavish jet to fly back to the UK, where he looks after one-year-old Alastair.

Lancaster is recuperating after an operation on her back in a London hospital, but Stewart is adamant he won't allow the tot to be neglected.

He says: "This is about our son. He's just a baby, and he doesn't have a dad. His mum is in the hospital and he's feeling a bit abandoned. He doesn't understand."
