No show for Hobbs at Cork theatre
A spokesman for financial guru Eddie Hobbs has refuted claims that poor ticket sales led to a cancellation of a planned Cork show.
It had been claimed that the Corkman, whose catchphrase is “show me the money”, had failed to tempt the public to flash their cash for tickets.
The financier was set to host two stand-up shows at the Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork and Dublin’s Vicar Street next month. However, it was reported last week that both Cork shows were cancelled amid rumours of poor ticket sales.
Tickets for the show were selling at €25.50.
A spokesman for Mr Hobbs said today that the Corkman decided to re-think the step-up size for the show, saying venues such as Vicar Street were just too big to allow for any real one-to-one interaction with the audience.
“The tickets for the Everyman Palace show were flying out the door, but Eddie just felt he would not have enough time to give to everyone, as many people do not put up their hands in the question and answer session but rather prefer to wait to speak to him on a one-to-one basis after the show,” said a spokesman.
The shows were timed to coincide with the maturing of the SSIA’s this spring.
