Smokin' Aces is a meaningless film

A crime thriller with the sort of over-busy plotline that lends itself more easily to one of those fast-paced, character-crowded comedies.

Unfortunately it's the sort of film with all the goodness stewed out of it.

Piven plays a Las Vegas gambler who turns snitch against the mob, though before he spills the beans and hopefully vanishes into witness protection he seeks one last fling at the tables.

It's the sort of completely stupid thing that has no grounding in reality - his desire brings every hit man to town seeking a piece of the action - and therefore renders a meaningless film even more so than you could possibly think.
