Rocky still a knockout

Sylvester Stallone is the Victor Mature of his generation, marketing little talent in a string of blockbuster films.

As a struggling boxer aiming to take on the world, his Rocky character won massive box office appeal, three Oscars, and sparked a string of hits.

Now Rocky: The Definitive Edition (Fox, €24.99) marks the 30th anniversary of the film’s launch and the arrival of number six, Rocky Balboa shortly.

Amid the three hours of extras are a commentary by Stallone and friends, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the original, especially the work of director John Avildsen and composer Bill Conti.
