Thank You For Smoking a delicious comedy
In the delicious comedy Thank You For Smoking (Fox, €24.99) you can’t help liking master of spin Nick Taylor (Aaron Eckhart), VP of the Academy of Tobacco Studies, despite his job as a spin doctor.
While his fellow members of the MOD (merchants of death) squad promote guns and alcohol, he flies the fag (sorry, flag) for cigarette companies against the US health lobby.
All of which leads him to link up with actors agent Jeff Megall (Rob Lowe) to persuade Hollywood stars to smoke onscreen once again.
If this doesn’t get the new year off to an amusing start then nothing will.
Among the many extras are a fine audio commentary by director Jason Reitman and actors Eckhart and David Koechner, deleted scenes, a making of featurette and photo gallery.
4/5.
