Eastwood never interested in running for governor
Clint Eastwood insists he never aspired to become the governor of California after his stint as mayor of Carmel, despite being encouraged to do so by his constituents.
The Dirty Harry star, who was mayor of the northern Californian coastal town in the mid 1980s, admires fellow Hollywood tough guy-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, the current governor of the state.
Eastwood says: "He's a smart, disciplined guy. More power to him. I had a lot of people trying to talk me into running for governor before he came along but I said: 'No chance.' I was only interested in helping my own community."
