Ferrell has never been better than in this clever, witty, off-beat gem of a film that delivers on all manner of levels.

He plays a real-life character whose life is, unknown to the author (the excellent Thompson), being written. OK, so that sounds complicated, but stick with the story.

Is Harold (Ferrell) losing his marbles? Step up therapist Hoffman who joins him in a search for the author and for how his life might pan out.

The performances and the strong, sympathetic characters make this a quite brilliant and entertaining film.
