Doherty checks in to Portuguese rehab clinic

Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty is being treated for his drug addiction at an exclusive Portuguese rehab clinic, according to local media reports.

The Babyshambles frontman was arrested on suspicion of drug possession in London on Saturday morning - after he was spotted driving erratically with two friends.

And Portuguese newspaper 24Horas claims the 27-year-old will have an implant inserted into his abdomen to help beat his heroin habit at a clinic in Lisbon.

Doherty, who is dating supermodel Kate Moss, has been released on bail while police analyse the recovered substances, but has been told to return to the Bethnal Green, London police station next month.

He is due in court in December over a separate drug-related incident.
