Houston facing foreclosure

Whitney Houston's New Jersey home reportedly faces being seized and sold, because she owes more than $1m (€782,000) in mortgage payments and unpaid taxes.

The sale will take place on 4 January next year, after being authorised this week by the Morris County Sheriff's Office.

It follows a lawsuit filed by the service agent for the mortgage holder, Chevy Chase Bank, in June this year.

If the sale goes ahead, Houston will only lose one of two properties that occupy her estate - which she bought in 1987 for $2.7m (€2.11m) and adjacent house is valued at $5.6m (€4.4m).

The only way out for Houston is if she is able to reach a settlement with the service agent.

The 43-year-old singer has dismissed the reports to Associated Press and her publicist insists the property is not in foreclosure.
