My time to go, admits X Factor's Nikitta
Eliminated X Factor contestant Nikitta Angus admitted today it was time for her to go.
The Scottish teenager was last night voted off after her rendition of Donna Summer’s Last Dance failed to win the backing of her own mentor, Simon Cowell, in the ITV talent show.
Holding the deciding vote, he was forced to choose between Nikitta and another act in his category, Ray Quinn – and plumped for Liverpudlian Ray.
“Obviously he has to pick one and to be put in that position is not nice for anyone,” said Nikitta, adding that the judge approached her after the show.
“He just said, ’Don’t worry, you did well... it was a great performance and I found it really tough.”’
“I feel happy that I can walk away and say that they (the judges) said something nice.”
Nikitta, who last year lost her mum to cancer, said she had felt under pressure during the show.
“I was so sad and (saying) ’I don’t want to leave’ but you kind of feel a little weight lifted off your shoulders.
“I think the toughest part was not having my mum there for support. There were times when I really wished I could have phoned her.”
During the series, romance blossomed between Nikitta and her fellow contestant Jermaine Sanderson of 4Sure.
“Everything’s fine. We’re just kind of taking it slow,” she said.
“I asked him to come up the other week, but it depends what his schedule is, so we’ll see.”
The winner of the series will be awarded a record contract.
