Sixty Six

Director: Paul Weiland

Cast: Greg Sulkin, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephen Rea, Eddie Marsan

Cert: 12

A young lad’s Bar Mitzvah is a milestone, an occasion to be celebrated with family and friends.

But Bernie, learning that his big moment clashes with the l966 World Cup Final, wonders if anybody will come.

This is clearly a period, historic film – England won the Cup and don’t look like they’re ever going to repeat the experience – and it’s also one of those quirky little Brit films that come over all charming and funny, with lots of odd-ball characters and memorable performances.
