Fire and brimstone aplenty as out-of-touch but morally strict priest (macfayden) returns to his Irish home town to find the citizens have fallen badly from grace, what with the drinking and the getting-with-child.

It’s a curiously outdated film and it doesn’t quite get deep enough to satisfy our longing for a decent storyline. The playing is good from a solid cast but there’s a touch of the stereo to it all.
