Caviezel: 'Mel's doing brilliantly'

Actor Jim Caviezel insists his Passion of the Christ director Mel Gibson is doing "brilliantly" after his high-profile drink driving arrest in July.

The Mad Max star was arrested in Malibu, California and launched an anti-Semitic verbal attack on a Jewish police officer.

While Catholic Caviezel insists he disapproved of Gibson's behaviour, he has been in touch with the actor/director to wish him luck in his battle against the booze.

Caviezel says: "Mel Gibson is doing brilliantly. Everyone knows he's a brilliant director. I would say that my experience working with him is such that I hope things come back around."
