Goldwyn – yes, he’s son of Sam – fashions a satisfying family saga of relationships and anxieties about future domestic bliss in what turns out to be more than a mere standard work of human behaviour.

The ensemble work is startlingly good – the playing of Barrett especially so – and a close attention paid to the developing plot will yield a good evening’s entertainment.
