Record label BMG have rubbished claims they will drop troubled British singer George Michael after his arrest last week.

The Careless Whisper star, who was caught slumped in a stupor in his car, was arrested for possessing marijuana for the second time this year.

However, he has the "full support" of his record label, and will not be sacked.

An insider at the label says: "We'd never tell him what to do. We never bully our artists. If there was a time when record companies did that, it is long gone.

"We rang him up to ask if there's anything we could do, but that's it. We're backing him in his personal life and his decisions. He has our full support.

"We're not going to sack him, we're supporting him."
