NME magazine launches Irish edition

Iconic music weekly NME today announced its expansion into the Republic of Ireland, with the launch of a dedicated Irish edition of the magazine.

The launch will coincide with the opening of Club NME Dublin, a regular showcase for new Irish music.

NME Ireland will hit the newsstands with the issue covered dated October 21, and will be on sale on October 18 the day before Club NME Dublin opens its doors for the first time.

From today, a special free NME Ireland sampler will be distributed throughout the country.

NME Ireland – the only international edition of the magazine – will contain dedicated pages focused on the Irish live music scene, delivering the latest news, features profiles and live reviews from the hottest new acts in the country.

The magazine will also be packed with the usual mix of all the best from the UK and international music scene.

The free NME Ireland sampler issue features cover stars Humanzi on the set of their new video, in which they let 100 balloon-waving clowns loose on the streets of Dublin.

Content for the Irish edition will be provided by new NME Ireland correspondent Steve Cummins.

“NME has always been a successful magazine in Ireland, but with such a vibrant live music scene and such passionate music lovers it would be madness not to provide the country with their own magazine,” said NME editor Conor McNicholas.

“The Irish edition will be tailored to their favourite home-grown artists as well as featuring the very best from the UK and beyond.”

Meanwhile Club NME opens its doors to Dublin’s live music fans for the first time at Voodoo Lounge on Thursday, October 19.

The venue will play host to the launch night party, after which Club NME Dublin will take up regular residency at The Hub, on Eustace Street.

Club NME Dublin will take place every first and third Thursday of the month with entry priced at €10.
