The magical Meryl struts her ice-cold stuff in Oscar-winning form in this wonderfully catty tale of high fashion and the world of glossy, and usually empty, magazine journalism.

The film belongs, almost entirely, to Streep, who has never looked better what with her clothes and that formidable blonde-snow hair. And what with her uber-bitch performance. All quite wonderful.

Hathaway is an excellent foil as the would-be journo who finds herself working as a much put-upon assistant to Streep’s demanding editor. She has, of course, ambitions … dangerously so.

It’s a film not to miss on many levels … most of them involving Meryl.
