Kylie: Writing was therapeutic

Kylie Minogue says writing her first fictional book proved to be therapeutic while she was recovering from breast cancer treatment.

The book, entitled 'The Showgirl Princess', which is aimed at young children, is about a girl's rise to stage fame.

The 38-year-old, who was diagnosed with the illness last year, says having cancer treatment actually gave her the space to write the book. "It's perfect timing," she said.

The singer admits the idea of the book came from her actor boyfriend Oliver Martinez but said she has always had an interest in writing. Apparently, her dad always said: '"One day you're going to write a children's book."
