Trinity to honour Oscar-winner Stone

Three-time Oscar winner Oliver Stone will receive an award at Dublin’s Trinity College tonight.

The University Philosophical Society will present the Honorary Patronage to Mr Stone, who directed JFK, Platoon and Midnight Express.

Previous recipients of the gong include US Senator John McCain, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and author Salman Rushdie, who are all honorary Patrons.

Mr Stone will also speak to students about World Trade Center, his new film on the 9/11 terror attacks on New York.

Former Conservative leader Michael Howard, comedian Tommy Tiernan and US celebrity lawyer Barry Scheck are also due to receive the Honorary Patronage at Trinity during the current academic year.
