Campbell threatened with arrest

Supermodel Naomi Campbell failed to appear for her hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday and she has been warned she faces arrest if she fails to appear in court next month.

The fashion firebrand was due in court to face accusations she threw a mobile phone at her housekeeper's head in January.

Her lawyer, David Breitbart, claimed her absence was not due to professional reasons, but refused to divulge further information.

Discussions on a possible plea bargain are continuing, and the case has been adjourned until 15 November.

Judge James Gibbons told the jury: "I want to make it clear that she is absolutely obliged to appear at the next hearing.

"If she fails to appear on that court date, the warrant will go into effect."
