Nixon: 'There was no struggle with my sexuality'

Former Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon insists she never suppressed her lesbianism, despite having left her male partner Danny Mozes for a woman in 2003.

The red-haired actress fell in love with Christine Marinoni, a relationship which turned her life upside down.

But she maintains there was no internal struggle with her sexuality, claiming she simply fell in love with someone else - and gender is immaterial.

"I never felt like there was an unconscious part of me around that woke up or that came out of the closet," she said.

"There wasn't a struggle, there wasn't an attempt to suppress. I met this woman, I fell in love with her, and I'm a public figure."
