Marie Antoinette stars took etiquette lessons

Marie Antoinette stars Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman took an etiquette boot camp to make sure they looked the part as the 18th century king and queen of France.

Dunst admits she read up on her character Marie Antoinette's life and took instruction in all the things the young queen enjoyed - including harp lessons.

She says: "I took dance lessons, singing lessons, harp lessons, etiquette lessons and more. I feel like I learned a little bit about the things people did during that period."

Meanwhile, co-star Schwartzman also read his character, Louis XVI's personal diaries and gained 40 pounds so he could feel just like the awkward royal. He also took dancing and horse-riding lessons.

He says: "Being a king is something I never thought I'd be asked to do. I learned how to ride horses, how to dance a minuet, how to bow and how to use proper 18th century etiquette.

"I feel I could now sit at a dinner table with the best of Versailles and fit right in. It's been a really enriching experience."
